Burly 29er fits the bill by TassieKinga, 30 November 2017, 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful This bike replaces my 2014 Norco Fluid 9.1. Both bikes are Large but the Vitus is much bigger. Norco looks small next to it. This is mainly because the wheelbase is much longer and head angle is about 3.5 degrees slacker. I feel very comfortable on the large Vitus (I am 186cm and weigh about 90kg). I ride purpose built trails in Tasmania (checkout Blue Derby). The ride is very different. Very stable. It grips and corners extremely well. Takes big hits from rock, stumps, and landings with ease. Picks up lots of pace downhill and feels like it wants to keep going harder. Very silent bike on rough ground. Hubs are quiet. Pedals well up hill, but is not a lightweight bike. I am not into XC racing or enduro racing and ride for fun, so this doesn’t bother me. The frame is chunky with big sections and huge rear link. Looks tough, but weighs 15.2kg setup tubeless (easy done with supplied valves) including 500g flat pedals. Hope to enjoy this rock solid beast for a long time. Pros: strong great geometry & spec for $ Cons: fairly heavy
Quick with nailed geo, but some odd bits by SeventeenSeventySix, 26 November 2017, 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful This bike has spot-on geometry for a fast and capable trail bike, excellent suspension dynamics, and is overall a dailed-in build that is a blast to ride, Climbs well enough to keep you from dreading the steeps and descends strongly. It can eat up the miles at an alarmng pace and doesn’t beat you up. DT wheels were the easiest tubeless conversion I’ve ever done, Guide REs are fantastic. Some of the bits seem over-spec’d for 140mm trail bike though and results in a bike that’s heavier than needs to be. A Pike, M-spec wheels, and dropping the unnecessary chain guide in place of the Lyrik and E-spec wheels would help trim the fat (notice the 27.5 VRX spec sheet where they do just that). Bars were too wide for me as well and I dropped them to 760mm with a 35mm stem which dailed the fit, but just personal preference. Overall an excellent bike and build and highly recommended. Pros: great all-rouder Cons: a bit porky
