- Cube Reaction GTC 29″ Hardtail BikeAcids are harsh substances capable of dissolving materials. So why call a bike Acid? Cube has got their reasons. Put it this way: Cube’s Acid hardtail dissolves tricky trail sections quicker than you’d expect. With its high quality 29″ frame, neutral handling and performance-orientated features, it leaves nothing to be desired Strong and Durable Aluminium Hardtail FrameFrame building technologies are evolving constantly. The Acid’s 6061 aluminium frame with mechanically formed top and down tubes, interior cable routing and tidy details like the rear disc mount put it right at the cutting edge. Reworked Agile Ride Geometry gives the Acid the kind of balanced-but-lively handling that means you can go full throttle, or take it easy – whatever you feel like. The frame is disc-specific and features Cube’s ultra-durable, multi-layer wet paint finish Reliable, Race-ready ComponentsCube has selected RockShox’s functionally superb Recon Silver air suspension fork with 100mm travel for reliable, predictable and safe steering and bump swallowing. Cube has also gone cutting edge on the transmission front with Shimano’s smooth, light 2×11 transmission. The combination of a compact 26-36 tooth chainset and direct mount XT rear derailleur delivers crisp, accurate shifts even under load. Hydraulic Shimano BR M315 disc brakes bring the Acid to a halt reliably, while the 180mm front rotor is perfect for longer descents. And the Cube cockpit incorporates Shimano I-Spec, ensuring optimal integration of gear and brake components Features:Frame:æAluminium Lite, AMF, Internal Cable Routing, Easy Mount Kickstand ReadyFork:æRockShox Recon Silver TK AIR, Pop Loc, 100mm Headset:æFSA No 10, Semi-Integrated Stem:æCube Performance Stem Pro, 31 8mm Handlebar:æCube Rise Trail Bar, 680mm Grips:æCube Performance Front Derailleur:æShimano SLX FD-M7025-H, Downswing, 31 8mmRear Derailleur:æShimano XT RD-M8000-DSGS, ShadowPlus, 11-Speed, Direct MountShifters:æShimano SLX SL-M7000 Brake System:æShimano BR-M315, Hydr. Along the obtained organic look, the production method is primarily motivated by functional reasons. This enables Cube to manufacture lighter and also stiffer aluminum frames Agile Ride Geometry: Cube ran innumerable tests to develop the Agile Ride Geometry in their series of big wheel bikes. They also added the 27 5″ wheel size to the very well received portfolio. Three important details lead to the very agile character. Increased fork offsets let them achieve the same trail as their 26″ bikes without having to steepen the head angle, thus maintaining generous toe clearance to the front wheel. Secondly, they shortened the chainstays without compromising the seat angle. Cube invented a patented construction to mount the front derailleur to give them more tyre clearance while keeping a conventional seat angle, leading to a perfect riding position for every rider size. Last but not least, they kept the BB height the same as on their 26in bikes. These measures lead to a natural riding position. Every mountain biker will feel immediately at home on a CUBE 29er or 27.5 Aluminium Lite: 6061 aluminium alloy requires a heat treatment for the finished product. It is a stiff, very corrosion resistant, fatigue resistant,high-elongation material suitable for light tubesets with high stiffness Frame Safe System: To protect their high-end aluminium frames from damage, Cube built the Frame Safe System replaceable derailleur hanger. The mounting thread is in the hanger and not in the frame as usual. In case of a crash, this hanger can be easily and quickly replaced by a new one Easy Mount Kickstand: The Easy Mount Kick Stand is a new system developed and designed by Cube. The base of the stand is mounted from below to a fitting plate integrated to the frame and fixed with a through bolt. This kick stand is extremely stiff and solid through the enlarged contact areas between base and frame which gives a stable stand even with loaded panniers Integrated Cable Routing: Internally routed cables offer many advantages. Cables are protected from dirt for longer life, weight is saved thanks to the absence of external housing and the bike has a clean, sleek appearance Wet Paint Surface: On polished, brushed aluminium and all HPC frames, the logos and graphics are applied in multi-layer wet paint. Cube uses this surface treatment technology mainly to save weight Easy AssemblyWhen you order a bike, one of our trained mechanics will carefully prepare and pack your bike for shipping. Best value I could find by Cubic29, 21 December 2017 Bike came clean and undamaged from shipping. Noticed a checklist performed on bike before shipping. Not sure they really checked the brakes as rear had to be bled before it functioned. First bike I have had with hydraulic brakes and air shock fork. Still questioning the whether they are really that much better to warrant the complexity. Also first 29er I have had, not sure I notice a significant difference on the 26 I normally rode in the past. All in all love the quality of the bike and mix of components. Performs great, shifts smoothly, may change out rear tire as the ones that come on it have a narrow spaced center bead that limits bite on rough surfaces I normally ride, probably great tire for smooth flowy trails.
