Good wheels and tyres but very difficult if using standard quick release skewer by Unreal1066, 1 January 2017, 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful I am finally impressed with the wheelset after finally finding the right adapters for rear quick release wheel. I had to buy from another website and got it wrong the first time. There is very little information as to which adapters are needed. (It needs to sit inside the 12mm hub). Don’t bother buying the Mavic skewer it’s only for the front and is in 100mm Lengh. The performance of the wheels pick up quickly and are light. The tyres are good trail tyres. It was good value for money as the tyres are already fitted. It would be nice if Mavic had included disc brake bolts but you can’t have everything. Pros: light hub engagement Cons: standard quick release not catered for
Transformed my bike by StuartB, 15 January 2017, 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful My 2014 Cannondale Trail SL2 came with wheels that gave me no end of problems. I eventually got fed up of going back to my LBS and bought these instead. The CrossRides are much lighter and stronger than the stock wheels that same with my bike. I’ve ridden them along the South Downs Way, along with considerable long distance training rides on the bridleways of the North Downs around Box Hill. My bike feels more much more responsive and certainly climbs better than it did. No sign whatsoever of the broken spokes and buckles of my old wheels. These are great all-rounders and I can only recommend them. In fact I have to friends on more than one occasion. Superb value for money with excellent performance and quality. I should mention that I gave up trying to seat the tubeless tyres and went back to using inner tubes. Kept leaking at the valve for some reason. Not a deal-breaker for me but something to consider. Otherwise I got on well with the tyres to begin with. Coped very well with the SDW. Not a single puncture on that ride which is miraculous considering the terrain. That said a couple of months on the tyres are wearing a bit quicker than I would have expected. Also, I feel more sure-footed on Mountain Kings in slippery mud. This is of course subjective. The tyres aren’t bad, I just happen to prefer others. Then again if I was going to do the SDW again I would consider them just because of their excellent resistance to punctures. For the money the wheels are an excellent upgrade. Highly recommended. Pros: wheels are superb quality low cost upgrade that transformed my bike! tyres are demonstrably resistant to punctures. Cons: tyre tread wears a bit quicker than expected difficult to seat the tubeless valves.
