A genuine game changer in the world of Fitness Tracking by HeartRateMonitorCoUk, 28 February 2017, 6 out of 6 people found this review helpful I have been an admirer or Mio since they brought us WRIST BASED heart rate a few years ago. I have a Mio Fuse that I’ve been happy with for a couple of years. When I first heard about the Mio Slice and PAI I was skeptical. We have all been quite happy with daily step targets for many years … why change what seems to work. The Mio Slice is all about PAI – Personal Activity Tracker. The aim is to achieve 100 PAI score over a rolling 7 day total. Trust me … there are a lot of people out there who satisfy their Fitbit every day with 10,000 steps who could struggle to achieve a 7 day PAI score of 100. A 5 mile moderate paced run gave me around 25 PAI … I would need to do that every other day to keep a PAI of 100. A 25 mile bike ride gained me 60 PAI. It’s a great new concept. The Slice also transmits Heart Rate via ANT+ to your Garmin or other compatible device. A great device but let down by associated software by thedark1, 23 March 2017, 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful Having been a Mio Fuse owner for a few years, I was very interested in the Slice, as my Fuse had started to let in sweat and go haywire post workouts. While Fuse was a *dreadful* looking device, what it did was that it gave me the option to stream HR over bluetooth to other apps such as Strava, TrainerRoad etc natively. Most of the other “advanced” wearables that do HRM have to jump through hoops to do this. And I wanted the ease of a wrist device rather than a chest strap. So, the Slice continued to (mostly) do what the Fuse does, but in a sleeker device, with a better app and better functionality. I love the PAI score (more sensible than steps= count), and the fact that it knows when you sleep (Fuse you had to switch it to sleep mode) and has notifications (which is nice but I don’t use on a day to day basis). The biggestdownside that I have with it is that while it streams HR data “natively”, it can only do this to the device that it is paired to. And it can only be paired to one device at a time. The Fuse was agnostic on this. This is a bit of a bummer, and one of the reasons I have dropped a star. It doesn’t have the more advanced app functionality of FitBit, but I was not looking for the social side (the app is also a bit buggy, hopefully will be ironed out). In terms of accuracy, it is within 3-4 BPM of the Fuse at high rates, and very similar at lower rates. Pros: nice slim looking device streams hr data “natively” pai score – a great idea Cons: can only stream hr data over bt to 1 device app still a bit buggy
