Stopping Power by Giles, 3 May 2014, 11 out of 17 people found this review helpful I purchased these as an upgrade to my racing bike. I’ve been using Shimano 105 group set but have recently started riding with a faster group of riders (23-24 mph average) and whilst I’ve always been confident on the descents and to be honest one of the faster descender’s. Doing this in a pack is requiring me to be more alert to others so I purchased these to allow me a little more control. I’ve only used these a few times and they certainly look the part, performance wise they have been sharp and consistent and are bedding in nicely just prior to Triathlon season 🙂 My 105 brakes will find there way onto my Tourer so both bikes have been treated 🙂 Happy with this purchase 🙂 Pros: look power control consistency price
Light, grippy, but does not play nice with non-Shimano levers by mafyew, 28 October 2015, 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful Overall this product is great and I’d recommend it if you’re going to use the Shimano-recommended levers for this caliper. I’m running mine with a non-Shimano lever, thinking that the difference would be minimal. I was wrong. The bike still stops well but the brake feel is pretty squishy and takes some getting used to. I’ve no doubt that the lever and the brake caliper are both fine it’s just that the Ultegra caliper expects a different lever behaviour to my non-Shimano lever. In any case, once I got used to the squishyness the brake still does a good job.
